New Feature: Item Conditions

As you already know by now, eBay managed to confuse everyone again … by imposing a deadline to start using Item Conditions.   That, together with the new “Custom Item Specifics,” which is totally different, combined into a big mess.

Don’t worry – we made it SUPER easy for you in the 1PL!  Just go to your Sellebrity home page and click the 1-Page Lister tab.  You may need to ENABLE the 1PL in your Preferences.

New Feature: When Did Customer X First Visit My Listings?

Introducing a sweet new feature! You can now determine the day a customer first visited your eBay listings!

We’ve only been tracking this data since mid-April, with this release. We wanted to have at least a few months of data to make it useful. We now have almost 4 months so we feel it’s good to go.

So for loyal visitors, you may a see a lot of dates around mid-April.

This feature will be particularly useful to those of you who use our goal system. Remember, GOALS ARE BUILT RIGHT INTO YOUR STATS. As you can see in this screenshot, taken from a visitor today (with all identifying info removed), this person first visited in mid-April. The point is, we immediately know how long this person has been coming to our site before upgrading, and we can see it right in their session details.

New Feature: “Feedback Friend” – Reputation Protection

8:48 pm in Features by Jason

Find Negative Feedback Before It Finds You!

Introducing Feedback Friend: Your guardian angel and defender against negative feedback!

We asked sellers:

“What would you do If you knew in advance that a buyer was going to give you negative feedback?

And sellers replied:

“Duh?  Block them.”

Feedback Friend works like this: We monitors all your bidders on all your current auctions and listings, and alerts you to the ones that leave a lot of negative feedback, so you can can take action immediately and block them in advance of closing.  The negative feedback alerts are based on negatives relative to the number of purchases that they make, not just negatives themselves.

See the new Feedback Friend website!

Feedback Friend is 100% FREE for any Sellebrity subscriber. You don’t have to register – just go to your Preferences tab, and simply turn it on! Simply visit your Feedback Friend Preferences, or read the Community discussion.

Some Negatives are Worse than Others

Words like “scammer,” “horrible,” “terrible”, “worst”, “beware,” and usage of ALL CAPS, lots of exclamation or question marks — those will result in a darker shade of red. The more red, the more we recommend avoiding.

About the “Frequency” Field

The frequency field in the above image is the percentage of purchases where the buyer actually takes time to leave feedback for their sellers. This is a very critical datapoint, as you do not want to turn down sales for someone who is very reasonable, leaves good feedback often, but just had a couple of bad buys. You only want to block them if they show a pattern.

To learn more about this tool or sign up for your free account, <a title=”Feedback Friend website” href=”http://www.sellebrity.com/feedback-friend/”>visit the Feedback Friend website</a>.

Disclaimer:  This tool is no guarantee against late bidders or snipers. In fact, the closer to the end of the auction, the less likely we are to be able to inform you of a bad bidder.

New URL shortener: blinky.me

10:31 am in Features by Jason

Introducing our new URL shortener!

If you enjoy using Twitter and other services where you have to shorten URL’s, here a great alternative to the popular bit.ly and tinyurl.com.  Blinky.me is way better though, because it tracks your visitors after they have arrived at your website, too!

Why use blinky.me instead of the countless other URL shorteners?

First, like we said above, Sellebrity tracks your vistors after they have arrived at your website.

Anytime you want to share a link to a web site you are tracking with Sellebrity, you’ll want to use blinky.me. This is because you’ll be able to use our segmentation functionality with any link you share, to view not only aggregate stats of the visitors who arrived via a certain link (e.g. the top referring domains, top countries, average time on site, bounce rate, etc), but also view the individual visitors themselves. This gives you the best data available of any URL shortener.

Easier campaign tracking

For those of you that don’t really have time to figure out how our campaign tracking system works, Blinky.me is a super way to do it easier.  For example, if you notice you have a unique URL that you give to one of your advertisers, you can give them a blinky.me URL instead.  Then it doesn’t look like a referral link, and you can track isolated stats just for that person.

Here is a short example I whipped up, showing a few Twitter URL’s.  See below to see how the campaign tracking looks.

Or, if you are paying Google Adwords and want to check your own data gainst theirs, you can create a short URL, and see how the stats compare.

blinky.me is designed specifically for sharing links to a web site you are tracking with Sellebrity. You can use it for sharing links to other sites too, but you won’t get any data on the link other than the number of hits it’s received.

How do I add a new URL?

Just go to http://blinky.me.  Or, you can click LINKS and then SHORT URLS in your Analytics account:

Here’s a great way to use the Sellebrity “Poppy” widget to learn which items you should relist.

Go to Preferences -> Widgets.  Scroll down to Poppy.  From the pull-downs, configure it to show the “Top 50  … Pages … for the Last 30 Days.”

Like this:

How to do A/B Testing on Your eBay Listings!

7:54 pm in Tutorials by Jason

By setting up and tracking A/B Testing with Sellebrity, it is very easy to determine how effectively your various template designs and/or keywords are driving your visitors to make purchases.

In A/B testing, you unleash two different versions of a keyword, advertisement, website, web/landing page, banner design or variable and see which performs the best. You test version A vs. version B to see how different versions perform.

It is generally accepted that the best format for selling is to put the image on the left and the title and description on the right. But .. what else can be done? Let’s find out.

A/B testing on ebay example.
