Tutorial: “Spy” on Potential eBay Business
Here is one neat way to use data from Sellebrity Analytics to analyze your data and make an additional sale or two per week! I hope this will inspire you to share other examples you encounter.
One day, you are checking out World Spy (which shows you a live view of visitors to your website or eBay listings). You see that one of your regular buyers, Haris Pilton, keeps popping up. (Her name is there because she bought from you on a previous occasion, and you either entered her name manually, or her checkout action put it there automatically. (More on that in a future article.)

A previous customer, Haris Pilton, pops in for a visit.
Let’s SPY on Ms. Pilton some more. So we click on her, and we are taken to the following page.

List of visits. One visit has 16 actions.
Wow! Ms. Pilton has looked at your listings on 10 different occasions today. And on one visit, she looked at 16 different items and spent 25 minutes (the entry near the bottom)!
So let’s see what it is she wants so bad. Another click, and we are taken to this page:

She viewed one listing 29 times in a day.
Aha! From this chart it is clearly the “Original Miu Miu Black Bag” that she wants, with 29 views today ! This is all I need to know. I don’t need to go back to previous days, even though I could if I wanted to by changing the date range in the pull-down in the upper-right corner:

Customize the date range for any page.
The last step is to contact Ms. Pilton (remember, she is a returning customer, so we have her e-mail) and make her an offer on the bag:
Dear Ms. Pilton,
I am writing to offer you a great deal on one of my extra Miu Miu black bags, as there has been considerable interest in these kinds of items. I really want you to have it. Please reply back if interested.
If that doesn’t work, you can always sent out a Tweet on your most popular item, and let everyone know it is your most popular item… but we’ll save that for another tutorial.
Questions, comments, or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks I sell in the UK and have been looking for which countries to sell in. I have already joined.
So, where is this option to auto fill in user information upon transaction? I could see this being the single most handy feature for us as attracting “following” would definitely boost business.
Hi Chris: It depends on which listing service you use. We just need to be able to place our tiny little 1×1 pixel image on whatever page it is that the buyer lands on when they buy.
In fact, will be launching our very own listing service very soon, and it will compete with Vendio and Channeladvisor. And naturally it will be totally integrated. If we do the listing, then we have all the buyer information — since eBay gives us all of the buyer info on checkout.
So in short, there are 3 ways,
1. Your service has to be able to insert an image on the “Thank you” page
2 Wait a month until we launch our new stuff.
3. If you run your own store website, you can use our Sellebrity API. More details are on the Help section. Of course you need a programmer for that.
